02 · Who you are working with
The engineer who planned this grid's future.
BYOP Electric was founded by Batsaikhan (Bat) Ariun-Erdene, B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Master Electrician. Before starting the company he was a distribution planning engineer at Rocky Mountain Power — the utility most of these homes connect to — working on how the grid serving them would be built out.
That is an unusual place to start a resilience practice, and it is the reason this one exists. Planning a distribution system teaches you what actually fails, how long restoration really takes, and why the interconnection rules read the way they do. Most companies in this category are finance companies that subcontract the electrical work. Here, the person who designs the system holds the electrical license and answers for the install.
03 · Why the studio exists
Better resilience requires better planning.
Battery storage, solar and backup power get treated as products to be purchased. They are not. They reach into electrical distribution, mechanical systems, equipment space, roof planning, communications, the construction schedule and how the house feels to live in for the next twenty years.
HRS exists to pull those decisions together while they are still cheap to make — and then deliver the system with the field accountability of a licensed electrical contractor.

HRS serves custom-home builds and substantial renovations across Utah, working most often in Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Summit and Wasatch counties.
We prioritise projects where early planning, coordinated construction delivery and long-term support are worth what they cost. If a project is better served by a straightforward battery installation, we will say so and quote it as one.
